Psych is making me read about neurons. But I don't wanna read about neurons.

My Information and Communication Services class is making me want to perform content analysis on smutty fanfic. This is a Bad Sign.

That is all. (For now.) I must out to retrieve pants.

Just remember. The sooner you read about neurons, the sooner you can stop reading about neurons.

This is true!

'I must out to retrieve pants.'

ThinkyPants?

Are there any other kind?

[identity profile] sparkle-shortz.livejournal.com 2005-10-15 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately, there DEFINITELY are.

LOL!!!

Um, been there, done that.

My sophomore year of college I wrote a 30-page research paper on the "cultural phenomenon" of Fanfic. It was mostly about grassroots publishing on the web and its ties to popular story's more interactive roots of oral poetry. And yes, I did include an analysis of the cultural implications of smutty fanfic. ;-)

Crazy! So maybe it's not a Bad Sign. Maybe it's a Good Sign. Academia supports our bad habits as "cultural phenomena." YES! Now, instead of researching, I shall read more fic....

That. Is. Awesome.

I think it would be interesting to compare and contrast het smut to slash. I'm betting some reeeeally interesting things would come up.

[identity profile] eternalism.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Bad slash is written by horny fangirls, bad het is written by horny fanboys and fangirls.

X-D True. Some categories are in order.

But then, once you start splitting it into categories, where do you stop? I started thinking, "I'd have to look at boys who write slash, boys who write het, girls who write slash and girls who write het." But then I'd have to look at the sexual orientation of any given writer, and then get into the kinsey scale, and... eek.

This is starting to sound like Way Too Damn Much Work. X-D

But amusingly fun, nonetheless.

Send out a poll to a bunch of people on the fanfic.net forums for something. See how many reply. Of course, you're working behind the anonymity of the Internet, so your findings may not be hugely accurate . . .

Neurons rock!

I like neurotransmitters. Because I feel like I'm using technobabble when I say that word. :-)

[identity profile] eternalism.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Captain, our neurotransmitters are destablizing again!"

[identity profile] cassaclyzm.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
See? Exactly!

Yes. You both understand perfectly. X-D

I like neurotransmitters because they make my brain work! Um. Kinda..
