I gave blood yesterday. This is only the second time I've tried - the first time didn't work so well, since I wasn't hydrated enough and my blood resembled some sort of coagulated goop. Um, oops? But all went well this time around, and now there are sticky patches on my arm that just won't wash off.

At the moment I'm watching Sox vs Sox and drinking a cup of tea with my folks, whilst reading about squeegie kids for my Sociology class.

I probably didn't mention that I got a laptop, did I? Well, I did. An Acer, for a good price, that seems to be doing the job. I have named him Sam, possibly short for Samwise. I know from experience now that it's best not to name my laptop after, oh, demons and such.

What are squeegie kids?

Kids that used to wait at stop lights in some cities (Toronto is the one I'm reading about, I don't know if there ever were any here) with a bucket of soap and water and one of those windshield cleaner brush-things (that's the squeegie, I think). They'd dash out and wash peoples' windshields during a red light in hopes of getting a tip of a buck or so. The article I'm reading is talking about the law that was passed to keep them from doing it, why and how it came about, and whether or not the kids were labeled as "deviants" unfairly.

Ah yes - I've seen 'em. Sounds interesting.

I'm reading a book about crazy Mormons. After reading a chapter last night before going to bed I decided not to make it my nighttime reading anymore.

Crazy Mormons, eh? The Mormons around these parts are almost frighteningly nice and friendly people. So I'm interested to hear about the crazy ones.

Try reading Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer. These are fundamentalist Mormons who are into plural marriage and also really about dominating women and each other. It's messed up.

1. GO RED SOX!!! YAAAAAY!

2. EEE! Samwise is a great name for a laptop. A steady friend to see ye through thick and thin. And I couldn't imagine screaming curses at a hobbit. My laptop's Rufus. And let me tell you, you can still get pissed darn well at naked mole rats. ;-)

PS: I will use my hobbit icon in honor of Sam-possibly-Samwise.

Yeah, I'm rooting for the Red Sox too, but at the moment the White Sox are owning. Boooo.

Yay, hobbits! (I'm a bad person, I haven't read your story "The Decoy Hobbit" yet. I hope that's what the title is, because I'm too lazy/busy/lazy to look it up. But I will, I promise.

I have to admit - part of the reason I'm willing to give blood is that I kind of like getting needles. Not in a masochistic way, mind - more of a "c'mon, I can take it!" kind of way. I'm the same way with piercings. I'd have more of them if it wasn't for the fact that I don't really want THAT many piercings.
